Tea Estates, Munnar, Kerala

Munnar, is a breathtaking testimony to ‘God’s own Country’ – Kerala.  It is nestled in the confluence of three mountain streams – Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundilla.

With its seemingly never-ending expanse of lush greenery in the form of forests, gardens and tea estates, interspersed with waterfalls, mountains and valleys, it is a pristine picture of serenity. In its idyllic splendor, it houses many sanctuaries and through it, it is home to myriad flora and fauna.

The cozy, inviting settlements, the quietly abuzz marketplaces speak of a calm and peaceful atmosphere disturbed only by the working of the intermittently located local spice factories. Munnar’s green grandeur is highlighted by the presence of rare plants and animals in its sanctuaries and forests. A remarkable example was one of Neelakkurinji, a special flower that blooms only once in 12 years.

It is also an ideal spot for those seeking adventure through outdoor activities like trekking, camping and rock-climbing. All in all, Munnar is a place which brings a traveler closer to nature as he is left mesmerized and feels compelled to indulge.
